Dishonesty at its best.Wow! Where do I start? We paid David from Flaming Appliance Repair over $98.00 for showing up and diagnose our fridge which kept coming up with a "PO" (power outage) error code. He barely opened the fridge doors only to find the fan grill inside frozen, blocking the cold air from coming inside it. Immediately he said "Oh I know what the problem is" and without further testing the unit, he proceeded to write an order for 4 different replacement parts totaling $600.00 saying there was something wrong with the fridge. I asked him why the 4 parts needed had broken at the same time? He gave no coherent answer; he said He just knew as if I had no business asking. He also told us that the labor would cost us another $210,00 for an invoice totaling $903.00. He said the parts would take 5 days to come and he would charge us the balance when he came back to install them. At this time the fridge was working but not to its capacity and it had stopped making ice. After he left, I decided to disconnect the fridge and let it defrost for 2 hours to clear the ice blocking the cold air from coming into it, but folks! here comes the bombshell!! ...........After the ice melted from the fan grill, we plugged the unit back in and the error code disappeared, the temperature got colder and it started making Ice again. The unit hasbeen working ever since for over a week and has had no issues. Bottom line? the unit was working perfectly all the time, it just needed defrosting. To surmise, when David saw the grill frozen he should have defrosted it and restart the fridge during the time he was here; he then would've seen the error code disappeared and given the unit a chance to reinitialize itself before deciding to blatantly generate $903.00 on parts, labor and service call costs and which obviously were not needed. Very suspect when we can trust the judgment of these so-called "experts". I am sure there a lot of honest technicians fixing appliances, but IMHO, but a handful of them are nothing more than "crooks" ripping honest folks off of their hard earned money.I've tried to get our money back for David's "useless" service call and non-performance, but they replied. "sorry for the inconvenience, but the money for the service call isn't refundable". Had we taken David's word, we would have been "scammed" over $900.00 for nothing. I Wonder how many times they perform their suspect "services" on a daily basis.BTW, I tried to cancel the appointment on Sunday by phone, but the agent I spoke to wouldn't send me an email confirmation saying that it wasn't their policy to confirm cancellations by email,I said to him,"but you sent me a confirmation of the appointment by email, so why can you do the same for the cancellation?"....."sorry, he said, "it's not in the system" .....Really? Again, another very suspicious activity with this companyStuff like this is shocking, Especially on a company of Flamingo's reputation. Where's the oversight from the government? I will report this activity to the BBB and to the authorities. Us folks need to trust these companies that are ripping us all off.Mario Escovar
