The Fort Collins Police Department serves the community by protecting residents lives and property, preserving peace and order, enforcing laws and ordinances, and preventing and detecting crime. Located in Fort Collins, Colo., it conducts several educational programs and awareness seminars regarding crime prevention, Internet security, neighborhood watch and personal safety. The Fort Collins Police Department maintains a citizens police academy that provides training programs related to laws, firearms instruction, defensive tactics, first aid, patrol procedures and investigations. The department employs a staff of more than 250 full- and part-time sworn officers, civilians and community volunteers. The Fort Collins Police Department has patrol, investigation and information services divisions.
