Operational since 1990, Lacey Food Bank Program is run by unpaid volunteers and supported by donations of food and money from the community. Based in Forked River, N.J., the food bank encourages people from various organizations, schools and civic groups to participate in the community program. Lacey Food Bank Program aids the community people, mostly belonging to low-income families, single mothers and the children with minimal security. Food is also available on emergency basis for those in critical need at any time of the month. It has an on-going food collection system through the Food Bank pullout drawers. Lacey Food Bank offers tours for scout, church and school groups. The food bank program also arranges for youth groups and service projects for donation.
