The Fontana Police Department is a community-oriented police agency. The department operates a record bureau that provides information about incident reports, restraining orders, fingerprinting, arrests, accidents and firearm permits. The Fontana Police Department offers the COPS in Schools program for more than 1,800 students. It operates a patrol division that participates in safety programs for schools, neighborhood watch groups and community outreach centers. It has an enhanced community safety team that uses proactive patrolling techniques and community policing to provide a visible police presence to deter crime, respond to emergency calls and assist other units within the department when necessary. The Fontana Police Department is fully accredited by the National Commission on the Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. The department is located in Fontana, Calif.
