Pierre F. Saldinger, MD, FACS is the Senior Vice President of Perioperative Services at NewYork-Presbyterian. and Attending physician at NewYork- Presbyterian Queens. He is also a professor of Clinical Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Saldingerjoins NYP from NewYork-Presbyterian Queens where he serves as Chairman of the Department ofSurgery and Surgeon-in-Chief. He is also the Director of the NewYork-Presbyterian surgicalquality and safety program and a Professor of Clinical Surgery atWeill Cornell Medical College. A distinguishedand well-published surgeon, he has extensive expertisein the surgical treatment of cancer and benign disorders of the pancreas,liver, gallbladder, bile ducts and surgical quality improvement. He studied medicine at theUniversity of Basel School of Medicine Switzerland, earned his medicaldegree from Switzerland’s University of Bern School of Medicineand a Master of Health Administration from the Mailman School ofPublic Health – Columbia University. He completed his residency inGeneral Surgery at Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and clinical fellowship in hepatobiliarysurgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Saldinger is a fellow of theAmerican College of Surgeons, a member of the Society of University Surgeons,the Society of Surgical Oncology, and the Society of Surgical Chairsamongst others. He is also a member of the editorial board of the Journalof Gastrointestinal Surgery.
