City of Florence Electricity Department provides various economical electrical services to the residents of Lauderdale County in Alabama. The department covers a service area of more than 750 square miles. The department finances heat pumps through its residential energy efficiency program. It provides security lights and various safety and energy programs to schools and civic groups. The department s comprehensive services program helps commercial and industrial customers use power more efficiently. It rents and installs temporary loops for residential constructions, and offers 24-hour dispatching service to address power failures and service problems. Located in Florence, Ala., the department purchases power from the Tennessee Valley Authority through four primary substations and distributes it through more than 44 distribution substations and over 2,500 miles of overhead line.
