- Chiropractic AdjustmentsThis is a technique used on pregnant women with a breech baby. It is a specific chiropractic adjustment that many of the doctors at Southridge are certified in, and all are trained to perform, which removes intrauterine constraint, thus allowing baby to return to an optimal position, which is head down. It achieves this by reducing the effects of sacral and pelvic dysfunction and by reducing the stress to her uterus and supporting ligaments. In turn, neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is improved. It is a quick and painless procedure to perform and research supports that it is 82% effective in getting baby to turn on its own, according to The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics July/August 2002 issue. The number of visits required to get baby to turn can range from one to several.
- Spinal AdjustmentsPain in the knees, hips or pelvis can be caused by a number of things including: poor sleeping posture, prolonged sitting, poor fitting shoes, heavy lifting, excess weight, among other things. Many of these issues can be addressed and corrected by the doctors at Southridge Chiropractic by spinal adjustments, home exercises, patient education and even foot orthotics.

- AcupunctureAcupuncture is a form of Chinese Medicine. It is based on the premise that the body has 12 channels of energy (the Chinese call this energy Qi) that flows through the body from head to toe or from your toes to your head. 10 of the 12 channels are bilateral, meaning that there is a channel on the left and the right side of the body. There is one additional channel that runs down the middle of the body on the front and a 2nd that runs down the middle of the back. The Chinese have mapped out hundreds of points along these channels where the energy becomes stagnant or stops flowing. We use these points as the areas where we needle. By placing a very fine needle in the appropriate point, the energy that has become “stagnant” becomes stimulated and starts flowing again, thus clearing out the problem and eliminating symptoms. Certain points have been designated to treatment certain conditions.
- Disc Herniation TreatmentThere are varying degrees of disc herniations and chiropractic care is a safe, conservative place to start in managing the symptoms related to a disc herniation or protrusion.
