The Highlands Fire Department provides a range of firefighting and fire protection and prevention services. The community-based department serves a population of more than 6,000 residents within over 25 square miles in northern Arizona. It encompasses the communities of Kachina Village, Forest Highlands, Mountainaire, Lower Lake Mary and Pine Del in Arizona. The Highlands Fire Department specializes in emergency medical services and public education programs. The department also maintains an operations division that offers emergency preparedness solutions. In addition, it administers juvenile fire setter and first-aid programs, as well as inspects woodstoves and chimneys. Founded in 1999, the Highlands Fire Department operates training and fuels management divisions.
