The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is a government agency that is responsible for maintaining state parks and forests. The agency assists in protecting environment and managing energy, fish, wildlife, and land and water resources in Iowa. It operates a wildlife bureau that manages public land and helps private landowners with habitat improvement projects. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources offers the Iowa All-Terrain Vehicle Education program for children between the ages of 12 and 17. The department operates several fishing clinics for teaching casting, knot tying, fish identification and cleaning techniques. In addition, it is responsible for the enforcement of hunting, fishing and trapping regulations.
