Provided by YP.comI have bought fish from S&S Lobster for a while. Sometimes good, sometimes OK. I don't eat at the restaurant because from the retail ordering counter the kitchen doesn't appear clean. Last Saturday I bought trout, scallops and "fresh" sole. Short ride home in an air conditioned car. Cooked scallops-- rubbery. Sunday PM the whole fridge stunk, couldn't find the culprit but Monday AM I opened the sealed bag with the sole in it. YIKES. REALLY bad. The trout in the bag right next to the sole was fine. I called S&S and got disconnected twice. Third time the young man who answered said he didn't handle that. Nothing else. I asked for his supervisor and he said, "He's at the bank." "When will he be back?" "I don't know." etc etc. I called later and got disconnected two more times by the boss/owner?, Mark. Mark is the embodiment of "I'm too busy for this;" he did not care about this fish, and replied that a day and a half
after buying it, it's not surprising it was bad! The conversation went nowhere. "What do you want from me?" he said, impatient. "A refund or replacement," I said. He scoffed at that, told me he was busy and I could call the next day. We're talking less than $10 and he's giving me the runaround. I have the fish and the receipt, and all the times I suggested I come by he said, "We're cleaning up," "We're closed," "I won't be there." Lesson: DON'T BUY FISH AT S &S LOBSTER if you think they will honor their product. If the fish is no good, you're out of luck.

Provided by YP.comFor Father's Day this year, I had bought my dad a gift certificate to S&S lobster (which he used to buy clams for a family clambake). Well, he cooked the clams like he always does, but only about 20 clams out of the purchased 5 lbs opened up! And we've always read that you shouldn't eat clams that don't open up, because it could mean that they were bad. So I called S&S today to tell them that, because I felt really bad that my dad really couldn't eat any of the clams that he had bought with his certificate. (I was hoping that S&S would give my dad some more clams or at least give him a small certificate to use towards a future purchase). Well, the guy from S&S was SO rude on the phone and told me that we should have just eaten the clams. I told him that we were afraid to risk that, as clams usually always open up if they're good. We've definitely never had that problem before. He said there was nothing he could do for us, since we obviously had cooked them wrong (even though I assured him that my dad has been cooking clams for YEARS and this has never happened). So I said, "Well, that's kind of sad, because we're longstanding customers. But this makes me not want to go back to your store to buy seafood." He replied, "Well, that's okay, because we have plenty of customers." (Yikes)! I was really disappointed that my dad didn't get anything out of his gift certificate... and I was disappointed in the attitude of the manager at S&S, because we have been customers for years.

Provided by YPmobileSS Lobster is the best!! Fish is always fresh service is great and prices are super. Their restaurant food is awesome too
I don't know why this has only 3 ratings. We went the other night and it was fantastic! The food is delicious and the portions are big! The prices are GREAT! If you want some great seafood, this is definitely a great place to go.

We eat here often and have no complaints about the food, but the service for the most part is always terrible. The lines are always long and there is no separation for dine in orders or take out. Probably the most unpleasant people I have ever seen in the restaurant business. Something needs to be done to cheer these people up.

Freshness, quality and prices are great. Service is terrible. Eat in - take out - and fish market customers have to wait in the same line, which in the evenings and on the weekends is out the door. They should definitely have a separate line or window for take out. Eating utensils should be of better quality. This place is mega busy every day of the week, it's time to expand!
The place is always packed, though I am not sure why. Fairly good food, but the staff is just short of rude most times.
prices are great but the service is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE ... 45 minutes for a lobster roll! time to get some additional help in there. I have to not blame employees since they seemed VERY short staffed. One person to take orders, cook and deal with it all just didn;t seem to make any sense for a popular seafood place.
The food here is fresh as can be, and that's why they are in business. The market is terrific, and with prices much better than Boston Fish Market in Leominster. They will cook for you too, and given the consistent quality of the catch, you can be sure that you will get a good tasting dish without having to drag out your own deep fryer. However, if you're looking for a dining experience, don't bother. This is first and foremost a market, not a restaurant.
The food was heavy with grease, the bathrooms were filthy, if you order a lobster, you get a plastic fork and knife, and nothing to crack the shell with. If you want it cracked more, you have to bring it back, stand in line (while it gets cold), and they will do it for you. Stopping one of the people as they run in and out of the kitchen will not get you any help.I have bought fish here before, and was happy with the quality, but the restaurant is a skip
