The idea of Claras Hope came about in 2013 after founders, Dave and Tami Kromer, adopted their youngest daughter, Clara. As foster parents for over ten years, the Kromers strongly believe that no parent should have to do foster care alone. Two of their children were adopted through foster care with very little support. After adopting Clara, who was born with a terminal condition, their church and community rallied around the family with much support. The Kromers realized this is what adoption and foster care should look like and envisioned starting an organization that could provide such support to families in Genesee and Livingston Counties. Claras Hope began is a sub-ministry of Freedom Center Church in Fenton.
