E. Melvin Honeycutt Elementary School, governed by Cumberland County Schools, serves more than 1,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade five. Established in 1995, the school s curriculum includes math, English, social studies, science and language arts. E. Melvin Honeycutt Elementary School also offers instruction in Spanish, reading, special education, music and art. It operates a parent-teacher organization that organizes fundraisers, book fairs and festivals. The school s library houses a collection of magazines, books, newspapers, maps, pictures and encyclopedias. It provides English as a Second Language and accelerated reader programs. Cumberland County Schools governs several elementary, middle and high schools and is one of the largest districts in North Carolina. The school district operates nutrition, technology, transportation and social work services departments.
