Beware…I hired the owner of ...

Beware…I hired the owner of this company (he goes by the name of Emin) to install hardwood flooring in 3 of my rooms downstairs as well as the upstairs hallway. I also paid him to replace, and stain the steps on my staircase. The bottom line is, I trusted Emin in my house, and on his last day there, he stole from me. This guy should not be trusted in your home. I suspect that he was mad because I kept leaving him voicemails in an attempt to get him to finish the work that he started. I foolishly paid Emin in full just before the job was completed and he disappeared for almost two months. I would like to mention that I had to redo all of the molding work he did on my staircase and I had to sand and re-stain my brand new steps because he used an oil based stain when he should have used water based stain (the oil stain he used left tiny bubbles all over, giving the steps a very rough feel). There are other flaws in his work such as uneven floors, but I can’t redo the floors. I have to live with it. Emin claims to be a master carpenter with over thirty years of experience. I guess that is why he charges so much. Before he decided to run off without finishing the job, I got a quote from him to install a hand rail and balusters. He told me the price was about $7,000. He also said that it would cost an extra $1,500 for him to stain the handrail. I thought his price was ridiculous and I called a very reputable company (Deer Park Stairs) and they quoted me $3,500 for the railing. Deer Park Stairs doesn’t do staining so they recommended Marko’s Wood Finishing (another very reputable company) and they quoted me $850. How could this be I thought to myself…It made me wonder how much I could have saved if I had hired someone other than Emin. It turns out that I paid about an extra $2000 (based on rough estimates by 3 carpenters, given over the phone) to have my floors done by Trendy Handyman Services. If only I could go back in time, I would have never let this SCAMMER step foot inside my home. There are plenty of carpenter’s out there that actually take pride in their work and care about their customers, unfortunately he is not one of them. I would NOT recommend this man to anyone who wants quality work done inside their home. Oh and by the way, if you do decide to go with Trendy Handyman Services…make sure you pay Emin in cash because you will get a 10% discount. It is his way of saying thanks for allowing him to SCAM the IRS and NYS come tax time.
