Mann Dance Academy, Inc. is a local corporation with a strong board of directors who are interested in our community and the dance education of your children. The Academy was opened in 1996. Sisters Becky Mann-Retherford and Judy Mann sit on the board of directors and are primary teachers at the Academy. They are supported by the best team of instructors in our community! Mann Dance Academy, Inc. is dedicated to developing beautiful young dancers (ages 3-20). We emphasize positive self-image, correct technique, physical strength and flexibility, the ability to move and think creatively, self-expression through dance and an understanding of the art of dance. Our classes are a blend of disciplined dance technique and fun! Very young dancers (ages three through third grade) are instructed in combination classes. These consist of primary ballet and tap technique with some creative movement exercises. Our fourth grade young adult students take individual subject classes. We encourage a continuation of ballet technique and require a program of ballet technique before a student is considered for point. We also encourage a continuation of tap and an addition of modern, jazz, lyrical or hip hop in accordance with your child's interests. Classes are increased in quantity of subject and length as a dancer matures. We do have classes for older beginner students. All dancers have the opportunity to perform in our annual recital. Students in the individual class levels are eligible to audition for lead roles in addition to their class dances. Older students have performance opportunities throughout the season including local shows and one out of town nationally adjudicated competition. Call us for more information.
