Provided by YPmobileI had a very similar experience today, i had a mani/pedi and thought they used dirty clippers, files etc and the foot tub didn't look like it was cleaned out after each appointment. I was left alone and when I was actually getting a service we were interrupted multiple times by coworkers and my nail tech (?) making/taking personal calls on her cell phone. I think they were speaking Russian and it night just be cause I've only lived in metro Detroit for a few years but I still believe it's incredibly rude and unprofessional not to mention uncomfortable cause i think they're talking about me! Not relaxing at all.

Provided by YPmobileI used the groupon I bought a while ago to get a manicure / pedicure today, the spa is hard to find but when I did finally find it I was ordered to fill out paperwork then put in a tiny closet (literally it was like a 8 x 8 room off the main hallway with one chair for peticures. I dont get my nails done alot but I do know most places use sterile insturments and they didn't. The emery board looked like it was 10 yrs old and the foot bath looked filthy when I left. Also the woman answered her cell phone while she was doing my nails then called 'her daughter' too! I'm sorry but I find it really rude when people speak in a foreign language in front of customers, it's unprofessional. I was hustled through the rest of the appointment and she just walked away to get another appointment while I was drying my nails, I didn't even know it was over?! I can't imagine how upset I'd be if I actually paid full price for this! It just wasn't what I was used to at all, certainly not 'relaxing and spa like'.

Provided by YP.comI experienced Tamara's spa Sunday February 20th 2011 celebrating a Birthday! I saved for months to create the ultimate spa experience for my husband's birthday!!
We chose to have a couples hot stone massage, manicure/pedicure with paraffin wax along with a spa lunch. SOUNDS LIKE THE PERFECT SPA RETREAT RIGHT...
During the entire 55min massage my husband's therapist was very loud as she THREW the stones into the warming container!! I could not believe my ears!! I thought, hello this is suppose to be a relaxing experience, hence the dimmed lights, and SOFT waterfall music!! She then dropped the lid repeatedly, and even threw the spoon into the container that kept the stones warm!!
My husband and I jumped during the entire massage after being startled many times by my husband's therapist. This was our first hot stone experience, so we didnt know what to think. I didnt want to be rude or ruin the already ruined romantic moment by saying,"hello, can you keep it down, or are you okay."
We realized there was a propblem when we recalled my therapist being very quiet, and gentle with the stones he used on me. The therapist that worked with my husband was either inexperienced or just didnt care. We spent over $300 for this experience. I am so angry and DISAPPOINTED. And I'm not one of those loud, beligerate, angry people that yell and swear when they receive poor service.
BUT, just because I'm more civil when handling it, doesnt mean I'm any less upset.
I spoke with the manager who said she would follow up with me. The manager stated that she had no power to resolve the issue. I'm just so heart broken at the money we wasted. My friends and family all suggested MGM Grand's new Spa. But I wanted to stay close to home and Tamara's Spa was voted one of Detroit's best.
I will let you know what happens....

Provided by YP.comJust came back from a day of pampering at Tamara's spa & wellness. I have been a client of Tamara’s for over 25 yrs. Every time I go there, I feel like family, from the minute I walk in, to the minute I leave. All of my family and friends go to Tamara’s and they rave about how great it is. I always feel like they want the best for me. I usually get massages by Valya she has hands of gold. She makes me feel so relaxed and fresh. I go to Jane for facials and my skin has never looked better. Tamara’s spa can accommodate anyone's special needs and make you feel so great inside and out. Gabriella is the best with permanent makeup with her artistic touch, my eyebrows look like I had a face lift. My eyeliner and eyebrows are phenomenal.

Provided by YP.comI visited Tamara Spa and booked 2 services for a total of what my bill was suppose to be only $125 but when I got to the front desk they charged me for additional services such as a mask on my face and a few other items they DID NOT tell me until I checked out. My bills was over $350 for services that should of only been $125. THEY APPLY STUFF TO YOUR FACE AND BODY WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION AND THEN YOU HAVE TO END UP PAYING FOR IT AT THE CHECKOUT. ALWAYS, ALWAYS ASK TO SEE YOUR RECEIPT OF WHAT YOU ARE GETTING CHARGED FOR. OH YEAH, THEY WORK ON COMMISSION AND TRY AND PUSH YOU TO BUY THEIR PRODUCTS THAT THEY MARK UP 80%. I SUGGEST GOING TO ANOTHER SPA THAT DOESN'T RIP YOU OFF! BEWARE!
