Accumed Systems develops and commercializes tools for interventional medicine. The company was founded by Dr. William O'Neill, who is the director of the Division of Cardiology at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich. In addition to regional distributors, Accumed Systems seeks to commercialize its products through partnerships with multi-national companies specializing in medical devices. One example is the auto-inflation device, developed by Accumed System to simplify deployment of angioplasty balloons and stents. This product was licensed to Medtronic and is sold through Medtronic AVE under the trade name Everest. Headquartered in Ann Arbor Mich., Accumed Systems is a privately owned company that employs nearly 30 people.
