- HighlightsA former professional tap and jazz dancer, Charles “Buddy” Dudley decided to take his love of the arts to another level. “I’ve always loved the art forms and decided to become a professional hairdresser in 1982,” he says. Dudley decided to specialize in color eight years ago and, judging from his enormous popularity, it’s a decision that’s worked out well. Co-owner (with David Honeycutt) of the Charles David Haircolor and Design Center in Norwell, Massachusetts, Dudley is the recipient of numerous awards and honors. One of the highlights of his career, he says was performing as a member of Beth Minardi’s “Dream Team” at Color America in Chicago. Kelly Beery, an education director and designer, has been with the salon for 10 years. An all-around hairdresser, Beery teaches design, with a focus on cutting and finishing. See their collaboration below.

- Facial TreatmentCharles David Salon has had a strong presence on the South Shore since 1995. Recently, however, its presence has increased so much that the establishment, now called Charles David Salon and Spa, may in fact be the largest of its kind on the South Shore. Upon moving into a new building at 222 WebsterStreet in Hanover the formerly Norwell-based hair salon has grown to include a full-service spa spread out on over 7,000 square feet. Owned by Charles Dudley and David Honeycutt, Charles David’s emphasis is on hair design and color. The new space features an elite color lab to visually engage, involve and connect clients to the beauty and range of hair color, says David Honeycutt. The expanded area enables Charles David, which has a staff of 63, to expand its offerings, something that Honeycutt says they’ve wanted to do for a long time. A range of body treatments and massage are available including: seaweed and UltraSonic facials and light therapies to tighten the skin. The new free-standing building, owned by Charles David will also house other businesses including the home design shop Madison James, a high-end women’s clothing boutique, and South Shore Electrolysis. “We want the whole building to be geared to women,” says Honeycutt, who adds that a chiropractor whose practice caters to women may also rent space in the building. “We want them to come here and be able to unwind, get various treatments, and do the things they love to do.” For more information, call (781) 982-1224, orvisit www.charlesdavidsalon.com
- MakeupThe salon at Plymouth Rock Studios, which will provide round-the-clock hair and makeup services, will occupy a spacious, 5,000-square-foot studio next to a five-star hotel in Paramount Village. With Plymouth’s anticipated production roster of 17 films per year, the salon will certainly see its share of celebrities. “Most of the stars will have work such as coloring done in the salon, and then each set will have a couple of chairs and a makeup area,” says Honeycutt. “This transition will be interesting but also something that we’ll do well. We have two years to get it down.” And although Charles David will be taking on new VIP clients, Honeycutt promises that loyal customers will have the same access to hairdressers and receive the same standard of care as the celebrities.
