Provided by YP.comOn3/5/2011, I brought my Honda in to get a lifetime free muffler replacement since my muffler had broken away from the exhaust pipe. My free lifetime muffler replacement cost me $137.00 (pipe, gasket and labor cost). It took about 45 minutes to finish. When I was given the bill, the service manager took me to see the car on the lift. He told me that my drivers side axle boot was loose. That would cost $259.00 to replace. The entire axle and boot were replaced last year by my mechanic. This boot rubber looked good but it was mysteriously clean cut around the edge. Just above was my serpentine belt which he showed me that there was a clean cut notch out of it. To replace it would be $150.98. Then he showed me that there was oil leaking out of the top of my engine. He said that it was the valve cover gasket. Little did he know that I had (only 20 minutes ago) just had the oil changed at Jiffy lube near the mall and there were no such issues observed at that time. He wanted to charge me $134.98 to replace the gasket. All total it would have cost me $720,10 to replace all of the items that he claimed need replacing.
This guy didn't have much business and was trying to generate business by creating problems on my car to fix.
