General Info

The Daily Republic dates back to the mid-19th century, with a legacy of local ownership that continues more than 150 years later. For the past 50 years, the McNaughtons, a family with roots in journalism that date back to the 1920s, have owned the newspaper. The newspaper publishes 365 days a year with a staff that works around the clock. It started life as two newspapers, the Solano County Herald and the Solano Press. The Herald was first issued in 1855. The Solano Press was created in 1862. Seven years later, the Herald and the Press were consolidated and renamed the Solano Republican. The newspaper covers feature articles in a variety of topics that include local news, business, sports, editorial letters, features, obituaries, classifieds, archives, real estate and automotives. The Daily Republic is located in Fairfield, Calif.
