Established in 1980, Legal Services of Northern Virginia is a full-service, nonprofit law firm that provides free legal services to low-income, elderly and disabled individuals. It offers services in the areas of family, housing, employment, consumer, civil rights and elder law. The firm handles matters related to public benefit claims, health care access, child advocacy and tax disputes, as well as assists victims of AIDS. Its staff and volunteers provide legal advice and representation in administrative and court hearings and advocacy before local and state government entities. The Law Center for Children, which is a subgroup of the firm, provides educational materials for parents and human services providers on children s legal rights in the areas of education, adoption and guardianship. Legal Services of Northern Virginia is headquartered in Falls Church, Va.
