General Info

The Office of the County Attorney operates under the government of Fairfax County, Va. The office operates a general law section that prosecutes delinquent tax claims, defends excise assessment lawsuits, and advises the county agencies on financial matters and bond issues. This section also interacts with the Virginia general assembly, drafts proposed county ordinances, reviews contracts, and issues opinions to the governing body and the government on general subjects. The Office of the County Attorney additionally maintains a land use and environmental law section that defends the land usage decisions of the governing body, enforces and drafts zoning ordinances, brings condemnation actions, advises agencies on environmental issues and reviews subdivision documents that affect property interests. The office also operates an administrative law section.
