“As a surgeon, I truly enjoy connecting with patients and believe everyone deserves the highest level of care. I aim to make patients and their families feel as comfortable as possible while navigating through an increasingly complicated healthcare system." Dr. Plerhoples earned his Bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and continued his education to receive a Master’s degree in Public Health from Boston University. He furthered his education by receiving his Medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine, where he graduated as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Plerhoples began his surgical training at Stanford University, where he also completed a research fellowship in surgical education and quality. He authored several journal publications on improving surgical technique and patient care, and has contributed to chapters in several medical texts including SAGES Quality, Outcomes, and Safety Manual, Kendig’s Disorders of the Respiratory Tract in Children, and Cardiothoracic Surgery Review. He continued his surgical residency locally at Inova Fairfax Hospital where he was appointed the Education and Quality Chief Resident and earned the General Surgery Team Outstanding Resident 2013 Award. Dr. Plerhoples went on to complete his training in colorectal surgery as a fellow at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, working with many of the most prominent leaders in the field. Dr. Plerhoples and his wife have two daughters. He spends his free time with his family and enjoys playing guitar, hiking, fishing, basketball, and grilling.
