I am amazed by how inaccurate the reviewers are about the school. The Director has been at the school for over 20years and the Asst Director has been there for more than 4 years. I have had 3 children spread out of the years attend the center. We love the staff. The children go off to public school fully prepared both academically and socially. I would high recommend A Child's Place.

I have to disagree with the last two comments as I believe it was in regard to one teacher at the school and a response they did not like. We had a friend who had a son in this particular class and its a shame that one person is writing the same review on every site they can find now. The cupcake issue was dealt with the minute it was brought up to the director as well as the no talking during meals. This just is not true for any class now it happened occassionally in one class and once it was discovered it was changed. We've had one child go through the school since he was an infant and one child still there and while we have our small issues we have been very happy there. The infant toddler building has always been great. Its nice they offer a potty training class and the pre-K teacher has been wonderful. We even use some of the teachers as babysitters on weekends. It offers a great outdoor space plus music,PE and every week someone come in for an activity(reptiles, petting zoo etc)

As the previous reviewer stated, this facility has gone down hill. My children had been there for a while but not any longer. Unfortunately, the direction is lacking. The teachers had been allowed to practice discipline in any way they saw fit including denying birthday cupcakes and having children sit inside while watching the others play outside. The teachers are often not warm to parents or children. And there is a complete lack of communication from the directors to the parents. The projects have consisted of scribbling on a piece of paper. They do not foster creativity or imagination. It saddens me that it the facility has gone this direction and that I can not recommend it.
Unfortunately, since the time the other reviews were written, this place has gone completely downhill. They replaced the director a couple years ago and since then, they've hired poorly and condoned cold, harsh unwelcoming attitudes. The pre-school class is allowed to impose ridiculous rules (no talking inside, no participating in b-day celebrations if you misbehave). The teacher in that room is a miserable person who speaks far too harshly to the children. When a group of parents brought a list of serious, actionable concerns to the attention of the directors, they became defensive and did little to change anything. I pulled my children out, several other parents are doing the same. Do not send your children here if you're looking for a warm, welcoming environment where the teachers love your little ones like their own. You won't get reports on your children's day - just a "he was good" or "he was bad." There are far better options in the area - more $ but worth every penny
My five year old son has been at ACP since he was two years old. We chose ACP after visiting multiple child care centers in Alexandria, Falls Church and Fairfax area and we know that we have made the best choice for our son. The school provides a nurturing and extremely safe environment to the kids. ACP is filled with loving and caring stuff who communicate with parents tremendously. This school is truly a second home for my son and he is getting everything he should get from a school and more. We are happy school like ACP exists and we highly recommend this school to any parent who obviously wants the BEST for their kids. Safe and best learning environment, excellent facilities, loving and caring stuff to name the few. We are HAPPY!
I have trusted the teachers and staff at A Child's Place with my girls from infant care through preschool and would recommend ACP to anyone. ACP has provided a safe, educational and nuturing environment for my two daughters with a continuously loving approach, which isn't found in some day care centers. They teach using unique and fun educational activities and various outside sources (music, PE, etc.) and have well prepared both of my girls for Elementary school. The staff has always been very responsive and caring with any concerns or sensitive situations as well. We will greatly miss our ACP family when my second daughter graduates.
A Child's Place has been a wonderful day-care for my 5 year old daughter for the past 4 years. It's the perfect balance between fun and learning. They have the most wonderful outside play area, which is what drew me to ACP. The teachers and staff have kept us there. The children also like all the extra-curricular activities that are organized throughout the month.

We have had our daughter at A Childs Place since she was 6 months old and have been very happy for the past 4+ years. They have the right blend of interested structed activities and free time to "be a kid". My daughter loves the dance classes, the soccer, the puppet shows, etc. We recommend "ACP" to our friends as soon as they know they are having a baby!

As a parent of a 4 year old, I was searching for a preschool that would offer a nurturing place of growth, fun, and learning in a relaxed and loving atmosphere. I found it! My daughter enjoys going to school everyday and has learned material way beyond our expectations. After attending for 2 years, we as a family are thrilled.

I love A Childs Place! Beautiful school, staff has been there for years. My child started as an infant and stayed till elementary school. She was well prepared for public school. Wonderful big shaded playground. Gym and music classes for kids. The school brings in lots of outside activities and shows for the kids.
