  Office news: The office is open daily, and we are now doing all consults virtually. Please call for a consultation if you need your medications refilled, have been exposed to COVID-19, or not feeling well. The co-pays for office visits (now called telemedicine) have been suspended! That makes many services, such as dietician visits FREE! !! So if you have high cholesterol, blood pressure, etc. now is the time to take advantage of a virtual nutrition counseling session which you can use now and later.
• Primary Care
  We schedule patients to optimize efficient medical care. We are proud that we offer same day appointments almost every day, and that our practice has a part time gastroenterologist, dietician and podiatrist. Consequently when you cancel less than 48 hours before your appointment, you leave a hole in our schedule which can not be filled except rarely. Canceled appointments deprive other patients of the opportunity to be seen, and our practice of income. The fee is not meant to be a punishment, but rather is meant to discourage patients from cancelling appointments. All primary care practices as well as specialists have similar policies. We will enforce this fee, which must be paid before you see the doctor.
• Ear Infections
  Prescription pink eye drops as well as drops for ear infections. Pool and ocean swimming increases the frequency of eye and ear infections, and they are very annoying!! I also recommend over-the-counter swimmers’ ears drops that actually dry the water in the ears after a day at the beach and in so doing prevent the infections to a large extent.

  Nadisha Hosein graduated from Wagner College in 2009 with a Master’s in Advanced Physician Assistant Studies. Since then she has specialized in the field of Family Practice/Primary Care in Central New Jersey. She has extensive experience in out patient primary care settings as well as cardiovascular and cancer prevention. Nadisha has a positive attitude and collaborative approach which gives patients a sense of involvement in the decision making process regarding their health.

  DC Medical Care is one of the last few independent internal medicine groups which remains functional. MY goal remains to provide personalized quality care, and take full responsibility for the health of our patients. That includes preventive medicine, as well as acute (sick) care, and long term management for chronic conditions. We are also unique as we keep a small number of same day appointments open for sick visits DAILY in order to better serve our patients, and avoid unnecessary emergency room visits.
• Flu Shots
  With the Fall officially here, it is time to be aware of the inherent health risks of this time of year. Therefore, October is the month to get your Flu Shot so you can be covered the entire Influenza season. You can come in with no appointment or copay, and most importantly, no waiting time because flu shots are administered by by the Nurse and billed through the insurance directly. This is an easy step to safeguard your health and the health of your loved ones.
• Electrocardiogram
  The FREE physical is ONLY the first visit of your yearly check-up. This visit is meant to review your personal and family medical history, medications, as well as have the physical examination and issue referrals if necessary. Additionally we get blood and urine to be sent to the laboratory. During the second visit we review the blood work results, and perform needed testing such as EKGs, spirometry, etc., as well as make a "wellness plan" for the rest of the year. Both the testing and the plan are highly individual and address the physical and emotional needs of each patient. We feel that the physical examination is not complete without a discussion of your results. This visit though, is considered an OFFICE VISIT by your insurer and therefore requires a copayment. Physicians are LEGALLY bound to collect a co-payment EACH time a patient is seen for an office visit.

  Dana Cernea, MD is a specialist in Internal & Preventive Medicine. She completed her residency at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Her medical training was completed at Stanford University School of Medicine and SUNY Downstate Medical Center and she holds a B.A. as well as an M.A. in Health Services Management from Brandeis University. Her experience and interests focus on lipid and hypertension management, cancer prevention, cardiovascular health, and women’s health. Presently, Dr. Cernea is a member of the Internal Medicine Department at Hackensack University Medical Center but also works closely with Valley Hospital and its network of specialists. She is a member of the New Jersey Medical Association and the College of Preventive Medicine.
