This community is lacking in snow plowing. Although the city ordinances require clearing of sidewalks within 24 hours, they plow where they think it is most urgent. It has been 48 hours since our 4/14/2018 snow storm has passed, they have still failed to plow access to downtown Excelsior for residents in the area of Elm and Linden St. For the residents that do not own vehicles that in that area, there is no other access to downtown access besides the walkway between Elm Street and Oak Street along Highway 7. Note, this is Excelsior property and the City of Excelsior is responsible for clearing this walk way. I have been informed of this on a previous compalint. In addition, access to the semiphores on Highway 7 and Oak Street are blocked by snow and walkers do not have access to them to be signaled that is safe to cross Highway 7. This is an extremely dangerous highway and intersection. I have, in fact, had my last service dog killed while crossing Highway 7 in Excelsior. The sidewalk between Highway 7 and Minnetonka Elementary School has not been cleared as of this email. Today I had to walk in a driving lane on Oak Street and Highway 7 to get home, I had my service dog with me - very dangerous for both of us! I am not the only person in my community that rely on walking access to downtown Excelsior, some elderly and children. The last time I had to walk on Highway 7 because of no access to the walk way, I almost got hit by a driver swerving (drunk) at 4:00 PM. I have reported this issue to the City of Excelsior more than once. In fact, today the Receptionist said I was not the first person to report this problem, yet it was still not recitified when I walked home e at 6:00 PM. My hope is that the walkway will be cleared when I go to work tomorrow with my service dog. My hope is that a councilman or the Mayor will read this review. Warning - if you live on east Lake Galpin, your access to downtown Excelsior is limited. I hope no one else has to go through the loss I have gone through. God speed, be well.
