General Info
Buck’s American Cafe has been operating in the historic Swalwell building in Riverside Square since 1986. Built in the 1880’s the site was originally the home of one of the area’s first banks. Through the years it housed a variety of businesses including a haberdashery, and as rumor has it a speakeasy. The original Pines Tavern was located here and operated from the early 1940’s until the mid 1980’s. Remodeling for Buck’s was done with an eye to the future and respect for the past. Much of the building is original and upgrading was done to compliment the style of the era. Our goal at Buck’s American Cafe is simple. We strive to offer our customers great food and friendly, prompt service at affordable prices in a comfortable atmosphere. We want your visit here to be enjoyable and by meeting our goals we are confident that we will see you again.

What the heck happened??? Service, friendliness, wait time....Service was a 1 on a scale of 1 to 10. Server didn't check back on apps or main course, didn't refill water glasses often (mine was empty for half of the meal) wasn't friendly in the least bit, waited for 50 minutes for our lunch to come out, salad was soggy as if it sat under the heat lamp while waiting for for the meal to be done. Poor service, food was not anything special, All things considered, not a good value.
Love this place best food best service and best ambience ever I know when you go you will agree.
Very disappointing. We ordered seafood entrees and although the portion size was good, the rice (white) was boring and crunchy. The vegetables were overcooked. Salad used to be included with your entree but now comes as the hefty price of $3.99. We walked away with $82 less and still hungry.
Bucks is my local dinner hangout. I can be assured that the meals I order and the cocktails served will be hand crafted and in perfect quality. The menu is rather basic with a limited choice of either Beef, Fresh Salmon or halibut or Pasta. The Hamburger is quite good and there are a lot of tasty appetizers to choose from also. Of particular note I should mention That the Mediterannean style Calamari is to die for. It's a small plate but the combination of Squid, Feta cheese, Olives and onions served with small squares of fried Pita is outstanding and delectable to the palate. The Place is small but is quite cozy and perfect for socialising. I always use the place to take a first date. She is usually quite impressed with my selection of restaurants after trying Buck's fare. I highly recommend Bucks to anyone.
A tasty steak nicely done medium rare as asked and smothered with yummy mushrooms sauce. Nice atmosphere for a small place on Hewitt.
