Evansville State Hospital has been providing health care services for patients with mental illnesses since 1890. The hospital practices in the areas of dermatology, endocrinology and neurology. Evansville State Hospital is certified by The Joint Commission and serves more than 11,000 patients annually. The hospital offers a range of services that includes X-ray, mammography and dental care solutions. In addition, it provides physical, speech and occupational therapy services. Evansville State Hospital offers training sessions for community reintegration, social skills development, and medication and anger management. The hospital includes a 165-plus-bed facility for mentally retarded and geriatric and medically fragile patients. It also administers the Helping Hands program.
