Unfortunately, this restaurant - which used to be a good place to eat Japanese food - cannot longer be recommended. My last two dinners were awful, not even mediocre or standard, but simply awful.

Misako's was for years our favorite sushi place in Oregon (yes, even more so than the legendary Saburo's ). That all changed this year with the new ownership. I have a food allergy and the original owner was more than happy to work with me to avoid problems. I just need sushi items made without soy sauce, really no extra work on their part. The new owner feels I can take my business elsewhere, as he's not changing the recipes to suit my needs.Well, he's got his wish, I'm going elsewhere.
I have standard that I expect to be met when I dine out, especially if I am spending over $100 for a dinner for two people. If I am unsatisfied with something I have been served, I respectfully notify my server. Unfortunately the chef who prepared my sushi on January 18, 2007, was not professional enough to try to appease my dissatisfaction. Making sushi is an art form. The presentation is as important as the quality of the ingredients. Neither of these aspects were met and I requested a replacement Chef did not replace either of the menu items I refused, nor did he offer something else to try, an apology, or to adjust my bill. Customer service is not a priority for the chef at Misako. I am an avid sushi eater and the chef of the restaurant just lost my respect.Does anyone know a top of the line establishment to enjoy sushi, that also cares for their customers? Shoji's, we miss you!
