My son rented from Bell and they totally ripped him off on the cleaning deposit. We own rental properties ourselves and expect tenants to clean up or else it gets charged against their deposit. The house my son rented appeared to be a converted chicken house. The concrete floors sloped severely to the outside and there were even a couple plants growing through the walls and into the house. When they moved out they thoroughly cleaned the place and we and his in-laws helped. We were there so we know that this place was as clean as was possible for a place that was old and had blemishes that would never come out. Nevertheless, Bell ripped them off and said the place needed to be cleaned. What a bunch of dishonest weasels !! Unless you feel like fighting for your deposit, don't rent from this outfit.

Zero stars. Bell Realty is completely dishonest in their practices, intending to suck out extra fees from their tenants to make profits. My experience was particularly brutal: we moved into a place with dirty carpets, so disgusting they made your feet turn black. There was dog feces outside. We reported these things and got no response. Bell charged us for having a pet and for cleaning carpets, as well as several other "shady" things they refused to account for. We never owned a pet and we cleaned rigorously, leaving the place in much better shape, even though we were only there a few months. Bell's practices are to take your money with no intention of cleaning or fixing for the next tenant. They will ignore calls or persistent efforts to have them account for taking your deposit. They justify charging far beyond the nonrefundable deposit. Stay away from Bell Realty! I have a friend who also rented there and told me is collecting data to take them to court. He wants me to testify. Yes!

I am extremely disappointed in Bell. We didn't have much of a choice but to rent from them because they own the majority of the properties near the college campus. When we moved out of our apartment, they deducted from the deposit the cost to replace the drip pans and the $30 to hang some blinds that weren't hung when we moved in. We moved into our new house (also by Bell) and they made us pay the co-signer application fee again, even though we weren't changing co-signers. Our stove was broken and the drip pans were rusted. Much worse than the perfectly fine ones we left at the old place. The person who showed us the apartment also told us they would fill our oil tank for our heat and now they deny that and are refusing to fill it. Avoid this company at all costs. We have lived here for two months now and our radiatior and stove are still broken. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING WITH THESE PEOPLE. Take pictures. Be prepared for conflict.

Do not rent from Bell if you want your deposit back. I had heard this for years but did not completely believe it until Bell took over management of my complex. My apartment was in such bad shape when I moved in that the agent showing it said we might have to wait for the carpets to be changed. They not only did not change them but they did not clean them or anything else in the apartment. There were no drip pans on the stoves, all the closet doors were broken with the hinges ripped out of them, no hot water down stairs, and the mini blinds were moldy and did not work right. When I moved out Bell my entire $500 deposit to clean the blinds, carpet and replace the drip pans, the same blinds and carpet I had to clean, and the drip pans I had to buy. The apartment was in ten times better condition then when we moved in. I am now fighting Bell for the deposit. Bell said it is their policy to keep the REFUNDABLE deposit. That does not sound very REFUNDABLE to me. Stay away from Bell.
