API Inc was incorporated in May of 1972 by Owners Charles Swenson & Joe Richards. Mr. Swenson had been with 3M Co. for sixteen years in marketing & sales to the wood industry ( furniture, plywood, hardwood, doors, windows, pre finishing etc. ) Mr. Richards had been with Sherwin Williams Co. in automotive paint sales. Their goal was to service the wood industry with finishing equipment, production products and the automotive aftermarket with paint and related supplies. Mr. Richards resigned in 1979 because of health related issues and Mr. Swenson became sole owner. Customers serviced on a monthly basis, total approximately 450 in a territory, which include Northern California, Western Idaho and Oregon. Nationally recognized accounts include Masterbrand Cabinets, Weyerhaeuser, Roseburg Lumber, Jeld-Wen, Clear Pine and Brightwood Corporation. RV Manufacturers have included Monaco Coach Corporation, Country Coach, Inc. and Marathon Coach, Inc In addition the owners of API, Inc also co-own Altech Finishes, a powder coating facility located in Eugene, Oregon. The 25, 000 sq.ft. plant has a 5 stage washer, dry off oven, manual and automatic spray equipment in custom spray booths and over 600 of conveyor that runs through ovens that can accommodate up to 3 x4 x10 and they have an enormous batch oven for the larger jobs that is 7 high by 8 wide by 25 deep.
