Established in 1915 by President Woodrow Wilson, the Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the oldest national parks in the United States, and located in Estes Park, Colo. It is a part of the National Park Service and is spread across an area of more than 266,000 acres and has over 170 permanent employees, including law enforcement rangers, carpenters, mechanics, biologists, administrators, engineers and resource specialists. The park features nearly 150 lakes and several visitor centers, amphitheaters and museums. The Rocky Mountain National Park also provides various recreational activities, including camping, fishing, biking and hiking. It additionally serves as an ideal outdoor classroom for students of all ages. The park s more than 2,900-acre-wildlife zone features various species of aspen, elk, sheep and moose. The Rocky Mountain National Park additionally offers commercial services through contracted private companies.
