Mission Middle School is a professional learning community that provides educational services to more than 1,100 students in grades six through eight. It offers instruction in various subjects, such as English, mathematics, science and social studies. The school provides guidance counseling to students. It involves parents in school programs through various organizations, such as a school site council, parent-teacher-student association and English learner advisory council. Its English learner advisory council provides input and guidance in the implementation of the English Language Learners program. The school s education intervention reading program is designed to motivate and accelerate reading achievements of struggling readers and English learners. It additionally provides ongoing staff development training in teaching strategies and resources, assessment tools and communication skills. Administered by the Escondido Unified School District, Mission Middle School is located in Escondido, Calif.
