Established in 1961, UPCAP Services, also known as Upper Peninsula Commission for Area Progress Services, is a regional economic and human resource development and planning organization. It provides technical assistance and services to government agencies for the improvement and extension of their services to public, nonprofit bodies, business enterprises and individuals who wish to utilize assistance provided by federal and state programs for human and economic development. The organization offers services to senior citizens throughout the 15 counties of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. UPCAP Services offers adult day care, bus transportation, escort, care management, counseling, home care assistance, health screening, and caregiver support and training services. Additionally, it provides Medicare and Medicaid assistance program, housekeeping, housing option, legal assistance, long-term care ombudsman, personal emergency response, private duty nursing and consulting services. UPCAP Services maintains one of its offices in Escanaba, Mich.
