Erie County Prison operates the State Correctional Institution Albion, which has more than 2,000 inmates and over 500 employees. It is a part of the Corrections department, which is governed by Erie County in Pennsylvania. The county government operates finance, health, economic development, personnel, planning and recycling departments. The Erie County government also has a public safety department that provides emergency and dispatch services. Its human services department maintains the office of drug and alcohol abuse that administers information, referral, and residential and outpatient treatment programs, as well as offers shelter care and housing assistance services. The county government operates the Erie County Public Library that provides materials, services and programs to promote education, cultural enrichment and recreation.
