Bliley Technologies, headquartered in Erie, Pa., is a manufacturer of quartz crystals and crystal oscillators. The company's products are used for telecommunications, military, space and instrumentation applications. Crystal oscillators are oscillators where the primary element that determines frequency is a quartz crystal. Crystal oscillators are usually, fixed frequency oscillators where stability and accuracy are the primary considerations. For example it is almost impossible to design a stable and accurate LC oscillator for the upper HF and higher frequencies without resorting to some sort of crystal control. Bliley Technologies was originally founded in 1930 as the Bliley Piezo-Electric Company. Initially, it manufactured quartz crystals for the amateur radio market. Its name was changed to Bliley Technologies in 2001, to reflect the growing diversity in the products and services offered by the company.
