Not sure where these "reviewer" ate, but doesn't sound like they were at Farlow's on the Water. Farlow's is located on Ainger Creek (some locals call it Rocky Creek), - a saltwater creek that empties into Lemon Bay. The setting reminds me of something Disney would create for one of their theme parks. The food is excellent - steaks and fish cooked to your satisfaction, and apparently many people agree as there has to be over 100 award plaques decorating the entrance. I found the server to be very attentative. The place is packed everytime we go there, and we go there quite often. We make sure and use their call ahead priority seating as they only take reservations for larger parties of 8 or more. Good times, Good Food, Good service!

This place is on the cutting edge of being creative with both their menu and specials. It sits on one of the most beautiful settings on the entire west coast of Florida. I live in Dallas and travel for business and I hope when they open their next location it's in Dallas.
Food quality and ingredients are superb, try the Tuna or steaks! creative menu, fun place for dinner, with music and dancing. Prices are adequate although seem slightly higher in winter months. Sometimes service is slow as waitstaff can be spotty, but for a food lover, this is the place to go. Not sure what the other reviewer's frustrations with the owner's has to do with it, I've never expected a restaurant owner to stop by my table. As for the "on the water" Farlow's is at least near some water albeit a back water creek, unlike Lock-N-Key another "waterfront" which has a great view of a parking lot, not the Gulf!
This restaurant receives a lot of hype as "the place" to go in Englewood, however I can't see why. I've tried this restaurant both for lunch and dinner on a number of occasions and have been disappointed each time. The food on average is on the cold side, small proportioned, especially for the price; the service is generally slow, unfriendly and nonattentive. The owners are "selective" as to which customers they converse with. Although billed as "on the water", the atmosphere is deceiving because it's a "river' and the seating is not positioned to view this water, you have to walk around the grounds. I've decided to stop giving this restaurant and it's owner's a chance to even "somewhat" satisfy me.
