During our trip we had a little incident with a canoe. When we returned with the canoe, they were very understanding and helpful in figuring out a way to solve this problem fairly. Spirit of the Wilderness is a family owned business where the family actually is working with customers. They work to be helpful in planning trips and up front about costs and the realities of traveling in the BWCAW.

In addition to the excellent service, there's a certain northern MN charm to this place. They've always got the time for all my questions, and they're stocked with gear I need (flat straps to tie down the canoe) and stuff I didn't even know I need (fishing poles for kids). They also have every map of the BWCA, and a solid knowledge of the best routes around. This is a great last stop on your way out of town where you can make sure you've got everything you need for the wilderness.
