Couldn't be happier with Thatcher Oaks Awnings! They are the best awning company in the Chicago area. They came out to my store, gave me suggestions, showed me colors and samples, and helped me with the graphics and the necessary permits. From start to finish, they did a great job for me.

My current experience with this company is less than desirable. We have "TO" awnings manufactured & installed in 1980". With the onset of window replacement requiring complete removal and replacement fathered contacting company for a quote including cleaning. This adventure began 6/12//2012. Coleen "TO", Roselle, IL 630-529-6464 explained they did not provide cleaning service "just yet" however this was in the "works". Rodney would call 6/26/2012 with Quote or schedule appointment. "TO" would be providing service after 8/1/2012. We continually called and was told there would be a return call to schedule and appointment...this was never realized. 4/16/2013 began the process again as we were ready to proceed with window replacements. When calling I was informed the company had split now in Burr Ridge. Per Karen she or Coleen would be contacting me to schedule an appointment. 4/26/2013 Karen repeated the same saga, again this was not realized. 5/6/2013 Karen set 5/16/2013 appointment @ 1:00 PM with Russ, again this was not realized. In general Karen never remembered who I was nor what was needed. I don't believe this company no employees have a clue as to how to conduct business.5/15/2013 I called at 1:15 PM checking on status, Karen stated would call me back in a few minutes, again this was not realized. 2:15 PM I with a follow-up call speaking to Rodney, who was most defensive. Did not have a clue what I was talking about, stated there was not an appointment, gave a "song n' dance" becoming indigent and chastising explaining how busy they were blah, blah, blah! He did not offer an apology and became increasingly condescending. Behavior such as this is abhorrently poor business at best.Rightfully I did begin to raise the tone of the conversation. All in all he stated he could be at my home in 20 minutes and provide a quote however did not think he wanted to do business with me. WHAT? Precipitating my no longer retaining patience and understanding. Rodney's arrogantly deliberate lack of Customer Service is inexcusable and not to be tolerated. Therefore as I repeatedly expressed to Rodney I would be presenting this review, he continued in his caustic manner apparently did not care. Ultimately stating I did not want to do business with him nor this company. Let it be known this is my first review of any experience. Any and all perspective Thatcher Oaks customer should be aware.

Love my awning! After many months of research, I called Thatcher Oaks for an estimate. Not only did they beat everyone else price-wise, I was impressed with the fact that they manufacture and install their own awnings. The installers were very professional and efficient. What a great company. You just don't find this kind of friendly, personal service anymore. I went to the showroom in Elmhurst and the owner worked with me to design a Canvas Summer Room for my apartment building in Oak Park. It's like having a screened-in porch. There were many patterns and colors to choose from. I found a lovely striped pattern that compliments my four flat brick building perfectly. My tenants love it, we all have coffee out there every morning. Thatcher Oaks service takes the structure down in the winter and puts it up again in the Spring. I can't wait for the winter to be over and get my patio room back again!

I couldn't be happier with Thatcher Retractables. They came out to my house with a nice variety of fabric samples to choose from, measured my patio, and made a beautiful, custom motorized awning. Their own employees came out and installed it. They answered any questions I had and they were neat, clean and polite. I love my retractable awning! All I have to do is push a button and it comes out over my table and chairs - no more sitting in the sun! You can change the slant of it too. This was money well spent, before we got it we never went out on the patio because the sun was just too much.

This is the top-rated awning company in Chicago, and has been for 25 years. The above reviews must have been posted by competitors who cannot compete with Thatcher Oaks Service. The owner of the company is there 24-7 to deal with any problems or complaints. Their rating with the Better Business Bureau is stellar. Thatcher Oaks has put awnings on three of my restaurants in the past six years. They do all the biggest awning jobs in Chicago, including the new Harry Caray's at Cub's Park.

This company is a ripoff. They rip me off over $3000, never come back to service my awning, that was broken on the first day, Put nail holes on my sliding, blame me for causing the damage.. Order another commercial awning for the store front, never deliver it, stating that I never provide them with graphics, after they send me a graphics approved contract to sign... I have email proofs of this incident.
