The Gilmer County Sheriff s Office Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that promotes public safety, identifies and solves criminal cases and safeguards citizens rights. It operates an adult detention center that houses convicted prisoners and pretrial detainees. The Gilmer County Sheriff s Office also maintains a communication center that responds to emergency and nonemergency law enforcement, fire and emergency medical assistance calls. The office serves and processes various writs, orders, subpoenas and other civil papers for local courts and other county and state departments. Located in Ellijay, Ga., the Gilmer County Sheriff s Office has animal control, field operations, court services and criminal investigations divisions.
