Dr. Gilgenbach lacks communication and people skills. I would recommend meeting with him before having him examine your dog to see if he is someone you like and can communicate with. He has a considerable dislike of choke collars but will not gently explain his dislike - with me he resorted to a contemptuous 20 second stare and examining questions said in a terse voice. The rest of his of interaction with me was scolding and patronizing. I do not inflict pain in my dog by using a choke collar and know that it is controversial but it was advised for me by a dog trainer. My advice to Gilgenbach as a business man would be to have the front desk screen prospective customers by asking if they use one - if so, save them the time and energy and money of bringing in their dogs because he obviously can't stand their use and lacks the diplomatic skills to educate. Overall it was a demoralizing and patronizing experience I will never repeat.
