Founded in 1915, Sacramento Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District provides mosquito and vector control services to the residents of Sacramento and Yolo counties in California. The district has various departments, such as fisheries, public information, and education, water management and mapping and information technology. Its fisheries department is responsible for breeding mosquito fish. Its laboratory provides research and surveillance information which provide control of vectors and vector-borne diseases. The district also educates and informs the public about mosquitoes and vector-borne diseases. Its water management department reduces and eliminates mosquito production. The district is located in Elk Grove and also has locations in Woodland, Calif. It is affiliated with the California Department of Health Services.
