The Illinois School District U-46 covers more than 50 square miles and serves over 10 communities in Chicago in Cook, DuPage and Kane counties. The school district serves more than 40,000 students from prekindergarten through grade 12. It comprises more than 40 elementary, middle and high schools, including Lowrie Elementary School, Willard Elementary School, Canton Middle School, Kenyon Woods Middle School, Elgin High School and South Elgin High School. The school district offers classes in English, visual and performing arts, math, science, world languages and international studies. It also provides certification training in various areas, such as automotive, computers, food service and nursing. The school district has athletic teams for various sports, including cross country, football, golf, pom pon, soccer, swimming, tennis, volleyball, basketball, bowling, cheerleading, gymnastics, wrestling, badminton, baseball, and track and field.
