El Pazo is an auto repair and bodywork establishment that I discovered recently as I was trying to locate another Hispanic auto repair business in Elgin that I had forgotten the name of (I am a person of Causasian descent. And I seem to have always gotten the best prices from Hispanic automotive repair businesses). Initially I just needed to have my tires rotated. I needed it done ASAP. I called El Pazo and was told that I could bring my car in that very afternoon. The price quoted $10.00 less than the next lowest. And this "other" shop told me that I would have to bring the car in the following morning AND leave it. As I was on my way I began to hear a squeal from under the hood. When I arrived at El Pazo's, the owner pointed out that I was leaking anti-freeze. He quickly diagnosed the problem, the water pump, and quoted me a price to repair it of $250.00 out the door. I usually do most of my repair work myself, but under the present circumstances, I allowed himto do the work for me. I knew that the price he quoted me was fair. But I did not yet realize just how fair. This time I did have to leave the car. But Jamie, the owner, offered me a ride home. When I got hiome I quickly went to the RepairPal.com. This is an excellent website. Its purpose is to help people determine what a specific automotive repair should cost in their area. The RepairPal quote usually ranges between a few hundred dollars difference overall. Of course, that is with the dealerships charging by far the highest price. El Pazo beat the lowest price quoted by RepairPal by a very decent $49.00. I have often said that if I receive particularly bad service from anyone I will be the first to complain. Either to the offender's superior or the public, in a review forum like this one. Therefore, when I experience more than satisfactory service, I feel that I must compliment and proclaim that experience too. Finally, If you do choose hire El Pazo as your mechanic, and you happen to have a bad experience (of course, only after letting them know of your concerns and giving them the opportunity to take care of whatever issues you are concerned about) I ASK YOU TO PLEASE UPDATE MY REVIEW. I don't want ANYONE being taken advantage of, especially because of a positive review of mine. But at this time, I can honestly say that I feel that you can trust this business to do quality work AND save you money. And sometimes quite a bit of money.
