The Housing Authority of the City of El Paso is a local public corporation that offers sanitary and affordable housing facilities for low- and moderate-income families, senior citizens and people with disabilities. It provides a variety of programs related to education, recreation, drug education and prevention, job training, small business development and community organizations. The authority constructs and modifies housing facilities according to the standards of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. It owns and operates more than 6,000 units and provides rent subsidies for over 4,000 families through various rental assistance programs. The Housing Authority of the City of El Paso has a workforce of more than 600 employees in nearly 18 departments. Established in 1938, the authority maintains a location in El Paso, Texas.
