Our experience was horrible. Check engine light came on 2 days after we played cash for the Jeep. Spent over a thousand out of pocket cash tracking the problem down. Took it back. They didn't want to take our mechanics findings. Who has been in business for 30 years. Wanted his mechanic to look at it. Who looked maybe 20 years old. Very poor customer service. He was laughing when he saw us pull up. DONT BUY A CAR , TRUCK OR ANYTHING FOR THAT MATTER FROM THESE PEOPLE. I wouldn't even date this place but you have to if you want the review posted
I was diagnosed with ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease in Feb of 2017 and was forced to retire due to lack of mobility. I'm on fixed income and money is important. Due to the prognosis of the illness, my older children moved back home, from out of state, so we can spend as much time together as possible. My son got a new job at Right of Passage and he needed a reliable car to commute. We bought a 2007 Lexus RX350 on 10/02/17 from El Dorado Truck & Auto - with 119,300 miles.Unfortunately we had a bad experience and it's getting worse. These are friendly people but there were some problems with the car. When we test drove the car the tire pressure light was on. We figured this wasn't a major issue so we brought it to Dominic's attention and he agreed that he had noticed it too. He promised to correct the problem and sent us to the local Goodyear store for the repair. Goodyear completed their service but it the warning light was still on and it didn't fix the problem - the lady at Goodyear called El Dorado while we were there and informed them of this.We drove it home (South Lake Tahoe - approx 90 miles) and the water pump was bad (gushing water when parked after driving), rack and pinion issues front & rear (AWD causing a severe howling noise when you turn the steering and the safety warning lights to illuminate on the dash). There were other items to fix as well - but none of this appeared during the test drive or were reported on "safety check sheet" that El Dorado provided. While parked in our driveway, we called Dominic and told him about the problems. He told us to get them fixed at some location convenient to us. Although concerned, we still felt good about the car, Dominic and getting it repaired. The next morning we took the car to Cardinale Toyota, 3 miles from our house and explained the problems. We have 2 other Toyota's and this dealership has service those for several years and we've never had any problems. We know them. So here's the scam, El Dorado sold us the best warranty plan available through Alpha (which they recommended) - the coverage started mile one/day one with no waiting period with a $100 deductible. At first that the warranty company (Alpha) declined the claim stating that these were "pre-existing conditions". Now given that this a used car, I guess technically everything could be considered a "pre-existing condition". So it's hard to understand how the warranty works - when they pay, who determines what's paid for, it seems all subjective to their discretion - which is not the way they position these programs when selling them to you. The brochures/contract read like they cover almost everything except wear items - we get that. Yesterday Alpha responded that the claim is now denied because the repairs were "Not authorized by the Administrator". In a 12 page (small print contract) this is the only statement that says anything about any pre-authorization - no numbers to call, no forms to submit, no protocol to follow. They look for every possible way not to pay.El Dorado offered to pay for the water pump but stated the other work wasn't needed. I spent $5,600 getting this car fixed and all we did was drive it home - 90 miles away. I agree that about 1/3 of the repairs would probably be wear items - spark plugs, etc. We don't expect them to pay for these. But they claim that the major repairs tied to the failure of parts tied to the warning lights, steering noises, etc - were the work of an "unscrupulous dealership" (Cardinale Toyoya) who sold us a bill of goods to replace items covered under the warranty on the car. The thing is, the dealership didn't know about the warranty until the work was completed. Bottom line, the parts had to be replaced to make the car safe and drivable. The carfax looked good as this was a So Cal car and had been well maintained by the two previous owners at the dealership. As far as the deal with El Dorado Truck and Auto - we paid their asking price, bought their best
