It receives light through the lens and produces a picture, which is sent to the brain, enabling you to see. An unhealthy retina can result in impaired vision or blindness. This means that in addition to eye conditions such as glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration, signs of other diseases like stroke, heart disease, hypertension and diabetes can be seen in the retina.
