The Foster Grandparent Program, also known as FGP, is a part of the Delaware County Office of Services for the Aging. It offers volunteer opportunities for individuals aged 60 and older to serve children with special needs. The program includes tutorial, teaching and remedial academic skill, as well as socialization, mentoring, listening and counseling services. The Foster Grandparent Program serves babies and children with illnesses and physical disabilities. Founded in 1975, the Delaware County Office of Services for the Aging plans, develops, coordinates and administers a comprehensive service system for senior citizens. It also provides in-home mental health counseling and community services.
