The School for Children offers a range of support services for children suffering from autism and multiple disabilities. The school is a private, nonprofit organization that works in collaboration with parents. Operational since 1976, it operates a range of academic and enrichment programs for students between the ages of 3 and 21. The school focuses on the development of daily living, communication and social skills. The School for Children provides activities to develop decision-making abilities. It offers classes in art, music, physical education, science and social studies. The school provides occupational, physical, speech and language therapies. It also offers a variety of transitional and health services. The school s adolescent program offers students an opportunity to participate in a variety of prevocational activities, such as operating a bagel shop and preparing a lunch menu for the staff on a weekly basis. Its job sampling program engages students in managing business activities, including finance, inventory, stocking and sales. The School for Children is a part of Educational Collaborations.
