Provided by YP.comI ordered top soil for my garden from Embry Farms. They delivered within 1 hr and it was the best soil I've ever used. Had a great garden- beans, peppers, carrots and EVEN TOMATOES. Don't know what that organic garden person had wrong with their garden, but there's nothing wrong with the soil I got. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. The driver even went out of his way to make sure that he could drop the load of soil exactly where I wanted it. Would highly recommend to anyone and I'll be back next year when it's time to plant again!

Provided by YP.comI purchased 18 tons of top soil from these folks in 2009 - it was supposed to be the best manure enriched topsoil and it was beautiful black soil. The sales person promised it would grow the "purtiest tomaters". I filled my raised beds with this soil - mostly with a wheelbarrow. That is a LOT of dirt to move. I planted my beans, tomatoes, eggplant, cowpeas, etc. and those that germinated, grew twisted and sickly. I thought I had a disease. The tomatoes and eggplant leaves were small, twisted, and malformed. This was in a new garden. After much research, I finally called the Extension service in desperation to figure out what was wrong with my garden. He knew right away - herbicide contamination. He even knew of the giant pile of black topsoil on Hwy. 44 and said that the dairy cows eat fields treated with grazon, an herbicide that is designed to kill the legume and nightshade families of weeds... Tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant are part of the "nightshade" family. Peas and beans are legumes.
I contacted Embry numerous times - they refused to respond. I finally had to dig out most of the garden beds and buy new soil to refill them as it is a year or more before the soil will be safe for growing tomatoes, beans, etc.
If you want to grow anything but grass, don't buy dirt from Embry Farms...
