- Primary CarePhysical therapists are experts in musculoskeletal problems, and as teammates in the traditional healthcare system, are the preferred healthcare providers to treat those types of conditions/injuries. Once your PT evaluates your condition if they believe you should be evaluated by a doctor, you can decide whether to contact/see your primary care physician (PCP) or we can help you get an appointment with the appropriate specialist. Peak Performance has close relationships with many area physicians!
- Ultrasound
- MRIThe NUMBER ONE thing spine patients and physicians should question is having an MRI during the first SIX weeks of back pain.
- X-Rays
- Computed TomographyWe know most conditions don’t require immediate radiography (X-rays, MRI’s, CT scans…). Most conditions are surgical. Your first question is “Is my problem in need of films or surgery?” Often enough that answer is “Yes” and your best choice is to contact your Primary Care Physician or maybe a specialist, like an Orthopedist/Orthopedic Surgeon, because you had a trauma happen or the pain is very severe and debilitating and you need to make sure there isn’t a fracture or torn tissue etc.
- Iontophoresis“I really don’t like needles. Don’t you have any other way to get steroid anti-inflammatory to that tissue?”
- OrthopedicsUltimately when patients come for help they’re generally wanting two things – to relieve their pain and to return to normal doing the things they love and miss doing. That’s where PT’s are supposed to come in right? We’re supposed to be experts in pain relief and in function. In understanding the body. The problem is though that PT school does an awesome job of teaching the foundations…the essentials necessary to understand function – anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, orthopedics. But true authentic function rarely is taught even in today’s programs.
- Knee ReplacementKurt had a partial knee replacement in August of 2023. It never felt right. His knee felt so stiff that he couldn’t bend or straighten it all the way. He walked bent over and in pain despite spending hours a day stretching. A Buffalo surgeon decided to perform…
- Reconstructive SurgeryFrom patellar tendonitis, to patellafemoral pain syndrome (PFPS), meniscus tears, arthritis, ACL tears and reconstructive surgery…our team has helped 1000’s of people over our 17+ years recover from knee problems.
- Sports MedicineMike and Karen moved to Rochester in 1995, with 2 children (Jordan and Kyle) in tow. Mike arrived first, having taken a position at University Sports Medicine, and lived with college best friends while travelling back to Ohio on weekends initially. Karen took a part-time position at PT Services of Rochester to enable her most important “job” – being a mom. Each learned much and further honed their skills through those early years in Rochester. Mandy was born in 1997 and they were able to juggle schedules to keep one of them at home at all times. They each had already embarked on a close connection with Gary Gray and the Gray Institute where the foundations of more deeply understanding human movement and biomechanical problem solving were being grown.
- Physical TherapyYes! In New York State, you have “Direct Access” to physical therapy. This means that you are permitted to see a physical therapist (PT), without a prescription from a physician, for up to 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first.
- Shoulder Pain
- Ankle SprainA few of the common issues we’ve found in our patients include the same foot collapsing in (overpronating) too far, too much, or too fast – all of these can cause the knee to buckle inwards. Another is having a thigh bone that turns inward excessively due to anatomic changes or weakness, which can cause the knee to collapse inward. We’ve even encountered patients who lost movement in the opposite leg due to old ankle sprain injuries. They didn’t realize they lacked bending motion to squat normally, causing them to lean abnormally into the side they’d just injured.
- Back Pain
- Manual TherapyOur therapists provide unmatched expertise in biomechanical problem solving skills and training in order to 100% personalize all treatments, including exercise, manual therapy, and modalities, to help patients achieve great outcomes, shorten recovery times, minimize future risk and optimize health.

- Achilles TendonitisFrom achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, ankle sprains and fractures, to tendonitises…our Peak PT Team has helped tons of patients for foot-ankle issues. Our foot-ankle care program, as with all the other body parts, starts with understanding not only the anatomy and biomechanics of that local foot-ankle itself, in all it’s own complexities. It also always includes assessment and exercise for the “next door neighbors” (the midfoot and big toe, along with the hip and knee above…) and sometimes the “distant relatives” of the foot. Our functional biomechanics training allows us to appreciate key contributing factors that may have initiated stress into that foot-ankle tissue. So often it’s not really a “you’re a bad foot” sort of scenario but rather certain tissues were being overwhelmed as they were compensating for some other body part not quite doing its job right or fully. Some of the key areas we often must address are big toe bending capacity. The foot-ankle is also unique because it’s one of the places that external devices/supports can play a unique role. When custom orthotics are necessary we can cast you for those right here in the office. It’s critical to find those related areas of loss/shortcoming because if not addressed means that foot-ankle pain is likely coming right back again.
